Project Overview
The 2018 Pavement Maintenance will begin this summer and will be completed by September 2018. The 2018 Rotomill & Overlay project work will take place on Burton Street, Avon Street and Arlington Boulevard. The project includes utilizing a maintenance technique called Cement Treated Base (CTB). The CTB method of construction includes pulverizing the existing asphalt surface by grinding it up, removing the top 3 inches of the pulverized material, adding cement to the crushed base, and then placing new asphalt on top of the strengthened crushed base. This is a more aggressive technique of maintenance due to the existing asphalt showing a lot of "alligator cracking. This technique is also used to extend the longevity of the existing pavement infrastructure.
The Design Engineer on this Project is Ridgepoint Consulting and the Contractor is Simon Brothers Contractor. This project is funded with Optional One Cent Funds, Public Benefit Funds, Direct Distribution and Water funding.
Project Updates
The 2018 Pavement Maintenance project is underway in the following areas as noted below over the following anticipated dates:
Friday, June 1st: Avon Street from Florence Avenue to Clarendon Avenue
Monday, June 4th: Avon Street from Clarendon Avenue to Arlington Boulevard
Tuesday, June 5th: Burton Street from Florence Avenue to Bellevue Avenue
Wednesday, June 6th: Arlington Boulevard from 5th Street to Lewis Street
Thursday, June 7th: Avon Street from Florence Avenue to Clarendon Avenue
Friday, June 8th: Avon Street from Clarendon Avenue to Arlington Boulevard
Thank you in advance for your understanding. Please ensure that there are no vehicles parked on the street between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on the planned days for each street. As is typical with construction projects, the schedule could vary slightly depending on weather. The contractor will do their best to keep area residents informed of any changes should the occur. Flyers are being handed out to area residents weekly to keep you updated on how the project is progressing.
