About the Project
In June 2023, the Sheridan City Council formed a committee to study and recommend updates to the City’s M-1 Industrial Zone district. The City hired a consultant, Ayres Associates, to assist with analysis and recommendations. A public open house was held in March 2024 to explain the project and get feedback from property owners.
The M-1 District currently allows for a wide variety of uses, including residential, commercial, light industrial, and heavy industrial. The proposed updates include removing heavy industrial uses and one-family residential uses from the M-1 District. The proposal also creates a new M-2 Industrial District which is intended exclusively for light or heavy industrial uses. Specific language of these proposed changes can be found at the link below.
The proposed changes were initially brought forward to City Council in October 2024. City Council voted to table the proposed changes after the first reading to allow more time for outreach and analysis. As of December 2024, future City Council readings on this topic are still to be determined.
