About the Project
In June 2023, the Sheridan City Council formed a committee to study and recommend updates to the City’s M-1 Industrial Zone district. The City hired a consultant, Ayres Associates, to assist with analysis and recommendations. A public open house was held in March 2024 to explain the project and get feedback from property owners. A second public open house was held in December 2024 to provide additional history and present proposed changes to the community.
The M-1 District currently allows for a wide variety of uses, including residential, commercial, light industrial, and heavy industrial. The proposed updates include requiring heavy industrial uses to be reviewed and approved by the Board of Adjustment as a Special Exemption use in the M-1 district. The proposal also creates a new M-2 Heavy Industrial District which is intended exclusively for light or heavy industrial uses. Specific language of these proposed changes can be found below.
The scheduled Planning Commission and City Council meetings for adopting the proposed changes are as follows:
- Planning Commission Public Hearing - February 24, 2025, 7pm
- City Council Public Hearing & 1st Reading - March 3, 2025, 5:30pm
- City Council 2nd Reading - March 17, 2025, 5:30pm
